Linksight enables setting up easy and secure data collaborations between multiple parties. With our platform you can do privacy-friendly analysis on each other’s datasets, without sharing sensitive data. Not with each other, nor with Linksight.

How? With cryptography that makes it possible to compute on encrypted data, such as secure multiparty computation (MPC) and fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), combined with our unique configurable collaboration rules.

FAQ

Legal

The organizations participating in a data collaboration are joint controllers. They therefore prepare a Joint Controller Agreement (JCA). Linksight has a template available for this. In addition, if 3rd party suppliers are still involved (e.g. in the case of outsourced IT) then individual organizations will also draw up a processor agreement among themselves. Often this has already been done with the regular IT suppliers. Linksight has no role under GDPR / AVG because Linksight cannot access the data in any way.
A contract is needed between Linksight and the member organization. This can be in a direct relationship, or an umbrella entity can enter into the contract, where an EULA (End User License Agreement) also applies to the members of the umbrella entity.
Linksight uses two sets of terms and conditions: the Dutch General Purchasing Conditions for Healthcare, ICT module (Algemene Inkoopvoorwaarden Zorg, module ICT, 2022) and the Dutch General Government Procurement Terms and Conditions for IT (ARBIT-2022). Customers choose the set that suits them best. We advise choosing ARBIT when the organizations participating in the Linksight network come from different markets and it matters that they collaborate under the same terms.
Legally, one is still talking about pseudonymized data in accordance with the GDPR / AVG. As a result, a legal basis for processing the data is still required and a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) will need to be prepared. Linksight provides a pre-completed DPIA in which all technical measures are filled in and which customers can further complete themselves.

Governance

The data steward is responsible for setting up and managing the data collaboration in the Governance Hub. Within their own organization, the data steward is the one who clarifies use cases and then works with the data scientist to develop and discuss them with participating organizations.
The data scientist is responsible for performing the analyses and interpreting the insights. In preparation, the data scientist often also has a role in determining what data is available and relevant to the underlying use case and actually preparing the data.
If the organization is small, one person can fill both the role of data steward and data scientist.

Data

The data resides on the data station at the participating organization. This data station runs on servers in the participating organization’s own legal (IT) environments.
It depends on the use case. Many cases of regional collaboration involve organizations that all have different types of data from the same individuals. Think GP, hospital, health insurer etc. Then the data need not be defined the same, but the meaning should be clear. When it comes to parties with the same type of data - for example, when several hospitals work together - then alignment is needed.
The Linksight platform supports many types of analyses, for both vertically and horizontally partitioned data (different data about the same individuals, or the same data about different individuals). These include descriptive statistics, regression analysis, random forest, controlled disclosure (such as Private Set Intersection) and list deduplication. We also support federated learning for training AI models, with our own implementation or through integration with Flower AI. As we keep developing, more analyses are added all the time. Get in touch to check whether the analysis you want to use is already supported.
Yes, in addition to a graphical interface in the Analysis Hub, you can start analyses and process the results in several other ways: currently via Python and R.
The participating organization can import the data (e.g., a CSV file) to the Linksight data station through a simple user interface via the Analysis Hub. In addition, it is also possible to automatically prepare the data on the Linksight data station via an API.

Implementation

After signing the contract you can start right away. You can register your organization immediately and work in the Playground within the Governance Hub until your data station is ready. In the Playground you can already begin setting up the data collaboration with other organizations.
Linksight provides support in several ways. There is guidance during installation for IT professionals, development of use cases together with the data stewards and data scientist, and guidance on legal and compliance issues. In addition, various documentation is available.
Depending on the installation method (see documentation), the software can be easily updated by end users depending on the roles set by the organization.
Yes you can, through our Playground you can immediately start setting up the data collaboration.

The Governance Hub is where data collaborations can be set up and managed. It’s also the place where the governance rules for the data collaborations can be set.
The Analysis Hub is the web interface that provides access to submit analysis requests and get the insights. The Analysis Hub runs at the organizations themselves.
The data station is the physical place (read server in IT terms) where the participating organization’s data resides and the data is encrypted.
Yes, Linksight has been ISO 27001 certified since May 2023.
No, this certification does not apply to Linksight. The NEN 7510 is only granted if a supplier also has access to data. Because Linksight cannot access the data of participating parties, this certification is therefore not applicable.
