Winter series 2: Getting a grip on unsustainable growth
December 2023This is the second edition of the Linksight winter series with practical examples of federated data collaborations. Start the new year 2024 with fresh insights! Each week we present a new case study: Getting a grip on unsustainable growth.
What?
Throughout the country we see a large increase in patients at the emergency department. This increase is mainly attributed to the growing group of elderly people. But who are these elderly people? What is their living situation? Do they have support at home, do they use home care or are they in a nursing home? What events or circumstances in the three months preceding admission played a role?
Why?
It is crucial to understand what is happening in the entire healthcare chain to control the growth at emergency departments. What is the situation of the elderly? What are the common factors that increase the likelihood that elderly people end up in the emergency department? With these insights, more specific policies can be made and elderly people can be offered the right help in the right place in a timely manner.
How?
With the help of Linksight, parties set up a data collaboration to obtain these insights across the full breadth of the healthcare chain.
Who?
The Achterhoek association has set up various use cases with GERDA, including the acute care monitor. See also this webinar.
